Development of the prenatal rat retina.

چکیده
The present observation has demonstrated the developmental order of the rat retina as follows: the pigment epithelium differentiates earlier than the retina cells; Midler's cells and ganglion cells differentiate from the basal portion of the retina within a few days after the optic cup formation; the ganglion cells form a layer on the fourteenth to fifteenth day; the nerve fiber layer is formed on the fifteenth to sixteenth day; the rest of the retina cells differentiate gradually in the postnatal period. The inner limiting membrane is formed at the earliest stage of development. However, the completion of the outer limiting membrane in the adult form is at a much later stage—postnatal tenth day. Development of the nervous processes originates by vesicle formation at the marginal zone of the cytoplasm.

Prenatal Mercuric Chloride Exposure Causes Developmental Deficits in Rat Cortex
Introduction: Environmental pollution with heavy metals such as mercury is a major health problem. Growing studies on the field have shown the deleterious effects of mercury on human and nonhuman nervous system, especially in infants, however the effects of prenatal exposure to mercuricchloride on cortical development are not yet well understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the eff...
متن کاملThe Effect of Ascorbic Acid and Garlic Administration on Lead-Induced Apoptosis in Rat Offspring\'s Eye Retina
Introduction: Lead toxicity induces retinal cell apoptosis. Vitamin C and garlic may decrease lead-induced apoptosis. This study was undertaken to investigate vitamin C and garlic protective effects on lead-induced apoptosis in eye retina. Methods: Pregnant Wistar rats (n = 72) were divided randomly into 9 groups: (L) treated rats with lead acetate in drinking water and (L+AA) with leaded water...

A B S T R A C TIntroduction: Because of more exposure to mercury compounds, the prenatal and postnatal neurotoxic effects of mercury compounds have gained more attention in last decade. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of mercuric chloride intoxication on spinal cord development during prenatal period. Methods: 36 adult Sprague-dawley rats after observing vaginal mating plaq...

متن کاملThe Effects of L-arginine on the Hippocampus of Male Rat Fetuses under Maternal Stress
Introduction: Prenatal stress has deleterious effects on the development of the brain and is associated with behavioral and psychosocial problems in childhood and adulthood. This study aimed to determine the protective effect of L-arginine on fetal brain under maternal stress. Methods: Twenty pregnant Wistar rats (weighting 200-230 g) were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=5 for each group). T...
متن کاملThe Effect of Noise Pollution Exposure during Pregnancy on Long Term Potentiation Induction in Pyramidal Neurons of Hippocampus CA1 area in Male Rat Offsprings
Background: It is believed that cognitive processing is easily disturbed by incompatible environmental stimulations. Many studies have shown that prenatal stress affects fetal brain development. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of noise pollution exposure during conception period on neural activity of hippocampus CA1 area in male rat offspring. Methods: Four groups of rats inclu...
